Pay attention to your partner. At the end of each day, you are probably both tired. Work, kids, events, errands, and maybe even some other stressors can take away from your time with the one you love.

Pay attention to your partner. At the end of each day, you are probably both tired. Work, kids, events, errands, and maybe even some other stressors can take away from your time with the one you love. Here are some suggestions for when you are finding it increasingly difficult to have a conversation or to listen to your significant other when your attention is divided.

Put down the cell phone.

Turn off the television.

Close your laptop.

Remove all distractions even if it’s just for an hour so that at the end of each day, so that you have the opportunity to connect. Just the two of you.

Listen to what they’re saying, really listen.  Don’t listen to answer. Just listen so that they will feel heard. Ask questions, and engage in the conversation. When you give your partner your full attention not only do you learn things about their day, or how they feel about an important topic, you also may prevent problems down the road.

And, by giving them your full attention, you show them that they matter to you.  Long term relationships need you to be fully present whenever you can.  If you want your relationship to continue to blossom and to stand the test of time, take some time away from the busy world, and just talk to each other.

Your partner is important, so spend some time.  Get off the merry go round of your busy life and do this one small thing.

Listening to your partner when they have something to say, paying attention to their needs, and honouring them with your time, is so important.

It is such a beautiful thing when you can connect on a deep level.  These conversations release stress, ease your mind, and create a deeper bond and connection than you could ever imagine.
